She could phone the labour suite and tell them she thinks she is in labour, however, if she has had the pain since last week, it is unlikely to be labour. Depending on whether this is her first baby or not, and the position the baby is lying in, it can cause back pains which are just a symptom of being heavily pregnant.
It could also be a urine infection causing pain.
I would suggest that she phones the labour ward and insists that she come in to be checked out. If it is not labour, they will soon send her home again to await events. However, if it is labour or something else, they can deal with it there.
