Default Student Mentor Area and Buddy Status NEW!

New Section

I have created a new area of the site for you to find a Student Mentor at your Uni or to find a student who would like a mentor at your Uni. The Student Mentor Scheme has really started to blossom now, so I needed to make it easier for you all to find one another, its very easy now!

Feel free to approach the named Student Mentor or Student Mentee for your Uni who has already stated their request or offer. Please can all prospective Student Mentors contact TallPoppy or smwife before agreeing a match so we can provide you with your role definition and add you to the list. Then when you have a match, please let us know so we can issue your certificate and keep records of who is working with who, and to ensure you mentors dont get overworked!

All of you who have posted in the the announcement thread entitled 'Last call for student mentors' and 'Student mentor scheme' for either a mentor or a mentee will see your post has been moved into the new area for you.

New! 'Buddy Status'

Thanks to Rob it is now really easy to see who wants a student mentor or a mentee! If you are looking for a student mentor then just change your buddy status (in your profile) to 'Want a mentor', post a new thread requesting a student mentor in the new area and when you have one change your status to 'Buddied'.

If you are a Student Mentor and would like more than one mentee then keep your buddy status as 'Want a mentee', when you have the amount of mentee's you want then change your status to 'Buddied'. I suggest you have no more than 2 mentee's each, but all student mentors should share the mentee's around so everyone who wants one has one before snaffling two!

If you choose to take part in the mentor scheme then dont forget to update your status. You should also select your university so you can more easily be matched with a mentor or mentee.

If you do not wish to be involved in the Student Mentor Scheme then just put your buddy status and university to 'N/A' or just do nothing.
