I've seen a similar film clip, comparing a baby whose mum had no pain relief in labour and one who had pethidine. Both babies were placed on the mum's belly, and the pethidine baby was really floppy and sleepy and stayed put... The other, no surprises, crawled its way up and latched itself on to the nipple. Incredible!
One mentor told me that during pregnancy, the developing of the linea negra and the nipples darkening is thought to be so that the baby can see the nipples better and follows the line of the linea negra as it crawls its way to the breasts. Makes sense, hey! Amazing stuff!
