Re: Checking for a cord!
I have seen a woman cry out in pain at the cord being checked, also I don't understand the reason for checking for a cord unless you find yourself in the situation as Dory has.
There is alot of evidence to suggest checking for a nuchal cord is unnecessary practice, and midwives have said to me .. Whats the point? As its unlikely your going to do anything if you find one. They have said to go off heart sounds, descent etc.. to determine if there is potential cord compression, and if the baby delivers and you notice it round the neck then either deliver through, or try the somersault manoevre thus keeping the baby oxygenated. xx
