That happened to me Dory. And I have seen that in practice. Most women do not know and are not told at the time that this will be needed. I am ashamed to say when I first saw this I said nothing as I was horrified and didn't want to speak out on my first week ever in Delivery suite.

It happened again a few weeks ago and I spoke out before it was done. Doctors just don't seem to think the woman should know, let alone consent
