As you can see Rob has designed a new header and tool bar. This is to add some great new features for you....
The header is less cluttered and more useful in navigating the site. It also makes some less known features of the site far more visible, such as social groups, albums and blogs.
On the new header you will also find a navigation link entitled
'More' this contains lots of extra goodies and easy access to existing features, including the new StudentMidwife.NET toolbar with a unique research tool, the University list, the midwifery glossary, student mentor scheme, staff list, photo albums, contact us and site rules.
Research Tool
The tool bar has a fantastic research tool that you wont find anywhere else as it is MIDWIFERY SPECIFIC and Rob has put it together just for us. You can now put say, homebirth in the search box and it will automatically search only midwifery specific websites that we have chosen.
The websites that are automatically searched are:
- StudentMidwife.NET
- National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence
- Department Of Health
- Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
- Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health
- Royal College of Midwives
- Homebirth.org
- NHS
- Association of Radical Midwives
- Online Medical Dictionary
- Wikipedia
This will make researching assignments and PBL SO much easier and quicker.

University List
The list contains all the Uni's that have Midwifery courses... and lists...
Type of course (3 year degree, 4 year degree, 18 month, 5 year part time degree) You may filter the results by any specific course.
Course details (each Uni link takes you straight to the midwifery course page for every Uni) and;
Contact email for every midwifery course administrator, health care professions / Nursing & Midwifery Department - Where these are not available the admissions email address has been used.
We have listed the Uni's by area to make the information as accessible as possible. The list is the most up to date list on the internet that we can find, its even more up to date than the NHS careers one! Rob trawled every University website personally to ensure the information is accurate as he compiled the list himself. He now knows more about Uni Midwifery courses than me!
Social Groups
You will also see the navigation bar now has a link to our social groups, so have a look, join some, create some and have some fun! The social groups are great for creating local social networks with other students at your Uni or on your access/A level course.
I hope you enjoy the new header and make use of the excellent StudentMidwife.NET toolbar with its bespoke research facility, the social groups and if you are about to apply, the University List will be invaluable.
Id like to take this opportunity to say thanks to you all for continuing to support our work and I'm sorry that I dont get to have a natter with each and every one of you as I did when we first started, but we have got so huge that its hard to get to you all but I try my best!
