Ahhh, I don't think I read you OP properly...

Yes MCA stands for maternity care assistant, and you are far less likely to be seconded as an HCA. The best way to get seconded would be to more over to maternity and work there for a few months. HCA's can and do get seconded but more emphasis is placed on MCA's.
