I did a very similar degree to you and had the same idea that I didn't want to work in lab, I wanted a more hands on, people oriented career. They won't turn you down because you are already at uni, if anything it is an advantage because it shows you can study at degree level.
Also, many women (and some men) decide midwifery is for them after following alternative career paths, it's really not something you have to have wanted to do since you were little.
I'm sure you will be good enough, it sounds like you are reading well around the subject, plus I'm sure you've looked at the threads with advice about interview questions. You want this and I'm sure that will show through at interview.
