Default Re: First placements

It's really tough when you're a student midwife because there's no order or logic to what goes on. You see things you haven't learnt and you learn things that you haven't seen. But I personally think that the best thing to do is get stuck in straight away. I learn best whilst I'm on placements, and if your mentor is willing to allow you to do something, I think you should grasp the opportunity with both hands and don't shy away. After all, you are constantly being supervised, and they wouldn't allow you to do anything that put their registration on the line.

I have to say I'm impressed though, I was dipping urine for my first term on community, and too shy to do much more. Wish I'd taken the bull by the horns and taken a few a/n appointments and done some p/n checks by myself. Hindsight's a wonderful thing, eh!
