Default Re: C/ sections, should women be given the choice??

My own feeling is that c/section should only be offered if there is clinical indication. I know that when a woman has experienced a traumatic birth, the idea of a c/section is appealing. But, the risks to the mum's health, both short term and long term, are so much higher with a c/section. All the evidence points to this.

I am more in favour of women having access to proper counselling following traumtic births and all women having 1:1 care during labour, to give them confidence and closely monitor their progress and the baby's wellbeing in labour.
