Where I work, if everything is straightforward we have one midwife in the room for a birth, but as an RM you can call another if you want to. I have called in a second midwife twice since I qualified, once as I knew there was a big baby coming and the delivery of the head was reaaalllyy slow and I wasn't happy with the colour, and a second time I wasn't happy with the FH. Both times everything was fine.
