I think it is hard to challenge these things, especially when you are in the first year. But it is good that you are finding things that you don't agree with, this way you already finding your way and identity as to how you would want to practice in the future.
Not only that, I think they by the time the second year comes, you will have a number of catches under your belt, along with a bit more research, and you will be able to have more of an input, and put into practice the things you like......including not giving synto with anterior shoulder (not great idea!!) and delayed cord clamping where appropriate.
