Caesarean section has higher rate of maternal morbidity and mortality than vaginal birth. Therefore, the only medical justification for CS is when CS will produce a better outcome than vaginal birth for the baby. If there is no benefit to the baby (i.e. baby is already dead) there can be no justification for increased maternal morbidity/risk of maternal mortality associated with CS.
