Must have books!
Hi all
You must get your hands on 'The Waterbirth Wook' and 'The Active Birth Book' by Janet Balaskas as these are crucial to normal, holistic midwifery practice. I would also have a look at anything by Ina May Gaskin,i.e. 'Spiritual Midwifery'...some of her books have dodgy 70's pics in them but the content is good. Oh and 'Let Birth Be Born Again' by Jean Sutton.
Also a must for your studies and beyond if you plan to be a true evidence based, woman centred midwife is 'Effective Care in Pregnancy and Childbirth' by Enkin et al.
A decent midwifery dictionary would be good too...I still dip into mine every now and then when I come across something unusual and I can't spell it!
