Nici already knows my opinions on general placements!
But for those that don't know...
I HATE THEM!!! I spent 10 weeks learning nothing! I was basically used as a healthcare! 10 weeks of bed baths, bed making, commodes etc etc.. General placements actually did tip me over the edge (won't go into that further as its a bit personal) and I was ready to leave!
I spent half my placement on a gynae ward.. Which is a joke calling it that as there wasnt any 'gyane' patients!! It was all urology, cancer patients, orthopedics etc! I didnt have a mentor for this placement so was told to work with the healthcare and help them out!
Then I went to a cardiology ward, I had a mentor.. She was lovely and did try to show me things but it was just to busy so I was often sent to work with the healthcares..
I think it was a pointless 10 weeks which could have been spent in better places!
N e ways.. I'll stop moaning now!!
