You get to witness five normal births (maybe less depends on the mentor) some may let you count instrumental or C/S births as witnesses, depends where you are too. You will witness theatre births and very soon become involved by scrubbing in and taking the baby! and after your witnesses will 'catch' babies of which you need forty to qualify.

The instrumentals and C/S are not counted in that total so you end up being involved in a lot of births.

SO in one shift you may help look after three labouring women, go to theatre and take the baby , and catch a normal delivery too!
