Hi all
Well, as any of you who have been following my my blog you will be aware that I have been trying (and struggling) to get through to my local college about applying for access this Sept. I have left numerous messages over tha past few weeks as unfortunately the college is almost 20 miles away so wasn't easy enough just to "pop in", anyway....finally a call came through on Weds from them. Annoyingly I'd left the house about 5 mins earlier as was en-route to my Uncle's funeral
My husband was home minding the boys so took a message and they said they would post an application form!!
Anyway, it arrived today so I'm just filling it out.
The course is part time over 2 years (I can't afford to do it full time over a year because of childcare costs at the moment)
Hopefully they will let me know about interviews soon...
The course looks quite good, it's access to caring professions and core studies include english & study skills, I.T and maths and then you choose 3 modules out of the following:
Sociology, psychology, health issues, human physiology or social welfare.
My question is...which of these options do you think is more relevant to midwifery? For those ladies who are doing or have completed their access course which options did you take with your access course?
I am thinking definitely health issues and human physiology but unsure what to take as a 3rd.
Also they offer students the chance to study GCSE equivalents in maths, English and science....is it worth "topping up" ? English I got C for my GCSE's in Eng Lit and Lang but struggled in maths and only got an F and my chosen science subject of physics was also a very poor E...oh how I wished I'd tried harder at school!!
Any thoughts?
