I always find these kind of experiences so humbling. Women with so many problems are so often prepared to let a student that they have never met before, and possibly never will again, have input into their care. This can be at times like you have just experienced midwifemissy, or in instances of IUD or chromosomal abnormalities. I am always conscious of saying thank you as one day the boot could be on the other foot and having a student present is the last thing you may want.
