They refer to gravida and parity.

Gravida refers to how many times a person has been pregnant, parity to how many babies they have had

I.e. if you have had two children and are pregnant with your your third, you would be gravida 3 para 2 or G3 P2

6th baby Gravida 6 para 5

etc... does that make sense? hth?
