Default Re: Embarassing midwifery moments!

For me, it was when I was supposed to be catherterising a women with an epidural in - (she had some 'excess of skin folds' - at least that is the excuse I used!) I was feeling very pleased that I was able to demonstrate to my new mentor that I could perform a good sterile procedure with the washing and then when she had watched me struggle to get the catheter in place for about 30 seconds, I told her I was having trouble. Her reply, with a completely straight face was 'you need to look a bit lower'. I was only trying to put it in her clitoris!!!

My friend was doing a VE and told her mentor that she couldn't define position. Her mentor very calmly told her that it was because she was examining the poor womans anus!

Who ever decides that we are fit to be let loose on the public?
