Default Re: RCM Student Midwife Conference

We're back!! Was a little dissapointed to see there were no fellas there at all (what-so-ever), had a pretty good day and met some great students. It was a little sad to see the reality of the situation facing newly qualifieds and how to secure jobs many have to go through a relocation process. I knew the situation was fairly dire from Josie already but to see today how widespread the situation is was a little alarming.

It make me feel even more glad (and proud) that we have embarked upon building a strong Student Midwife Support Network - lack of jobs is just a drop in the ocean of the day to day fears facing students and midwives alike and I have an even stronger respect for midwives after today's conference.

It was kind of weird for me being the only fella there as well as a non student midwife, but as representative of this site alongside Josie I did get a lot of benefit from today and an even bigger insight into your world.

I was great to meet Smwife, Olly Bolly, Kentish Spitfire and some other people whom will be joining us also - We never got chance for that group photo eh? And those T-shirts looked ace too!!! Oh well, there's always the ICM conference in Glasgow I guess

I think I'm gona hit the sack..... it's been a long day and had way to many bags to carry home.

G'night all!
