Re: pinard - metal or wood?
We don't have waterproof sonicaids. Just ask Mum to lift her tummy out of the water. Have tried covering the sonicaid transducer with a latex glove but it would not pick up. I have heard that a condom will work as a waterproof shield that does not interfere with FH sounds but we don't tend to have them available on labour ward. Loo roll might get soggy! Pinnard is better if hopital trust fussy about getting thier sonicaids splashed, can't see anything wrong with that at all.
Argos now sell some contraption that people can use to listen to the FH at home. Have had women coming to ANC saying 'no need to listen in I've done it already.' Would hate to think that women may have reduced FM and then not come in because they've listened in at home and think baby is fine. Very worrying in my opinion.
