I would change it slightly as follows;
NICE guidelines (2003) suggest that pregnant women consume no more than one standard unit of alcohol per day. They state that a single measure of spirits, one small glass of wine, and half a pint of ordinary strength beer, lager or cider constitutes one unit of alcohol.
