Default Re: Advice Needed

I think if I was in your postition, I would choose the one about the midwife's role as a health educator.

When I had my interview, I had to write a paper about the role of the midwife (generally) and they're looking to see that you have an understanding that midwives do more than catch babies!

You could write a short introduction on why health is important and then do a paragraph for health during pregnancy (antenatal) and after the baby has been born. Antenatally, women obviously need to be in tip top condition so their babies can develop and grow as they should. During the postnatal period, they need to look after their health so their bodies can recover from the pregnancy and birth.

You could write about the importance of diet, exercise and support (physical and emotional) for before and after pregnancy. I would also mention that you would provide individualised care because you need to show an appreciation that each woman will have different needs. Not all women will need a huge amount of input on their health if they already lead healthy lifestyles. However, as you will already know not everybody has a great diet and exercises regularly!

Hope that helps!
