Default Re: Anyone got any exams?

group revision defo got me through it too (86% sorry, couldnt resist, am v chuffed!)
You need to know what type of learner you are to know how best to learn IYKWIM??????? Do you visualise the names in your head...do you make mnemonics for the names, ....do you visualise the names in a song/rhythm (i always had a problem remembering how to spell rhythm and needed to spell it a lot for my music degree - so i learnt Richard Had Yoghurt Then Had Meat - which is a REALLY simple example but i hope you get what I am going for here, and i still say it today when i type it to make sure i am correct).
So, how do you best remember things? Another example is to visualise the names and make them appear on a mental journey doing wierd things to help you remember.
Personally, my way is to visualise something really silly (smwife will remember this) eg Cell Membrane is bilayer of phospholipids and cholesterol, so we visualised 2 layers of fat men holding bags of sugar.......so odd, but it worked for us (83% and 86% there it is again!!)

Oh, I also had a ton of post it notes stuck everywhere with words on that had been condensed from pages of pages of notes. The notes were stripped down over weeks and weeks and reduced to single words which were triggers to help me remember all relevant information. This was something that was absolutely necessary for me to do as I was absolutley bricking anything to do with a and p as i had not done an access course, and my GCSE biology was taken in 1989!! So, if you find the right method for you it really does work.
And most of all, have fag/coffee/tea breaks, stretch your legs, you learn more when you have regular breaks, and DONT PANIC as you worry more about what you dont know then what you actually do
