Just been in receipt of our first major essay!!
Basically about how and why social inequalities affect maternal and child health and looking at strategies, which have been put in place to prevent them.
I've never done any work or reading before on the subject and feel like I have had to self teach myself everything about Sociology from the beginning.
I have looked into the Black Report and CEMACH reports, and read several books on the subject of health inequalities. But wondered if anyone could point me towards anything else I should be looking at.
Our lecturers have been pretty vague about the content, although it doesn't look like they want us to concentrate on one particular inequality but to look at them all and (I'm thinking) how they might be connected.
Plus can anyone tell me the difference between a Health inequality and a social inequality, when I asked my personal tutor she turned it back on me and said "What do you think is the difference", well I wouldn't be asking if I knew, would I?
Oh and please can someone define the term psycho-social (sp?) construct by giving me an example?
Anyway
any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
