Default Manchester vs Salford

I have now got two offers for the above Uni's. I have always been impressed with the way I have been treated by Salford and how welcoming they have been. I have had good vibes all the way with them and still had them after the Open Day for people who had been offered a place.

After getting an offer from Salford I then got asked to interview at Manchester. I went because I had nothing to lose and thought why not. I was not nervous at all and felt that my interview had gone well.

I feel really lucky to have had two interviews and two offers but now face a dilemma of which one to choose. I have to make the right choice soon as I will have to like it for the next three years.

Manchester would be closer by a small margin and the hospitals (because you have to go to all of the ones in the trust to gain a broad experience) will still mean travelling.

Any advice would be most welcome and I would really appreciate your opinions.

Thanks

Coffeebean

Well done for getting two offers!

I vote Salford, as you have Missy as a mentor and your best experiences have been there!

Good luck with whatever decision you make

Hey Coffeebean...
reading your post seems like you don't need us!! You clearly love Salford and can see yourself studying there!
If your really unsure just imagine yourself studying in them both...can you fit in witht he lifestyles you saw, does the town suit you??
On a personal note, i agree with Katie, I visited Manchester last year and did not feel a good vibe!! I felt it was inpersonal and none of the students seemed that enthusiastic!
Good Luck

Hi Coffeebean

I had a similar problem choosing between Bradford (convenient) and Huddersfield (good vibes)... make a pro's and con's list like I did for each uni - it really opened my eyes to which one I really wanted to go to (and it wasn't the one I expected).

You need to think about things like travel expenses (... esp if you will be taking paycut!) and where you will feel happiest for the next three years.

Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks for all your replies, they have been really helpful.

I was really really happy with the offer from Salford and felt really lucky to have had an offer and never expected to get another offer.

I suppose I just needed someone else to confirm what I had felt at Manchester. Both will cost about the same to get to so not a money consideration.

I just wanted to explore all options before I made such an important decision. This has reminded me of what I felt like when I was choosing a school for my oldest.

If I could give the space to someone else on here then I certainly would.

Thanks gals!!
