Question Any helpful tips for interview?

Hi everyone , I am new to the site, and was wondering if anyone can give me any advice. I have had a couple of interviews already, and a couple still to come. I have applied to JMU, Edge Hill,Salford, Manchester, and Chester. what Q's have you been asked and what did you say? I was asked all of the usual, Why do you wanna be a midwife? What are your qualities? How will you cope with a degree course? How will you balance study, shift work and home life? But I also got asked some I was not expecting. Have any of you been asked some Q's you were not expecting and how did you cope?

Hi Liv. just wanted to say hello.

I had a few unexpected questions. I tried not to panic, kept breathing and tried to think of a sensible answer. I think it's OK to pause for a few seconds while you think, better that than rush in with gibberish. Also, keep smiling!

Just wanted to say hello!

I had a totally unexpected question.... What would you do if we don't offer you a place?

My brain totally forgot to engage and I blurted out 'CRY' as a response!!! I then followed this up with '... and camp outside until you let me in!' I felt such a fool!!!!

Must have made the woman laugh though as I was offered a place the next day.

I think they sometimes throw in these ODD questions to see how you react and to see the 'real' you rather than a prepared answer which can happen with the obvious questions.

Hi Liv2giv

Someone else who had an interview the same day as me got asked about the role of the midwife. Amongst other things, she mentioned abortion. The interviewer then asked her what her opinion of abortion was. The interviewer apparently kept asking her what *her* opinion was, even after she said 'it's the woman's right to choose'.
So don't mention anything that you don't want to be questioned on! I was so glad I didn't get asked this.
