i have an interview at Edge Hill on the 18th of Feb .. im writing my 1000 word essay on Breast feeding and the role of a midwife.
could any one give me any pointers on this please?

and also what should i expect from the written piece i have to do on the day and what should i expect from the discussion??

im really nervous about this .. because its what ive wanted to do FOREVER!!

breastfeeding...mmm. Have just posted similar advice on your fellow interviewees post, but if you put in some WHO guidelines re breast is optimal, easy to find on www. Also NMC code of conduct about supporting choice of women and being their adovcate but also responsible for educating women as well. Dept of Health website has loads of guidelines about BF. Also mention about breastmilk banks and promotion by MW?
So much about BF and midwifes role in education and promotion out there, TPM is defo a good place to start. You could look at the articles by Suzanne Coulson printed at the end of last year, and her biological nurturing research....v interesting. Think it's quite hard to get it all into a 1000 words as so much to say!!

woo someone else writing this scary assignment! I have just found out I have an interview with Edge Hill on 6th March! I think I am going to do mine on the midwifes role as an educator in health! Am so scared!

Any tips on where to find good references anyone?

maybe try going into your local clinic and asking have they any info on midwifery... booklets or magazines... i did and i got some great help!!!!!!

I think it went ok ... but im not holding my breath coz they gotta narrow down 160 to 22 but fingers crossed 4 us both =D
