Default would this be a question they would ask

I was talking to a girl on my Access course who recently had a interview but was unsuccessful and she said they asked her 'how would you feel if a women came who wanted an abortion'. Correct me if I am wrong but do Midwifes perform abortions because I didnt think they did.

no they dont as far as i know but as a midwife you would be prob their first point of contact so you would need to help her make an informed choice by giving her as much advice and support as you can.

We dont but some work in epac which is an early pregnancy advisory clininc and they have to deal with terminations there in terms of support and referral to Dr/clinic etc.

I think the question is not to see how you personally feel about terminations but to see how you deal with something that has strong views associated with it and to see if you can give the woman unbiased advice and treatment.

I was asked this question at one of my interviews, and I tried to answer it from an unbiased point of view eg, offering support, giving the woman all the information so she could make an informed choice, being non judgemental etc.

Thanks for that, I think I was worrying because the way the girl worded it to me she made it sound like they would ask whether I would perform one or not.
