most current issues facing midwifery

Can someone help me by telling me the most up to date issues facing midwifery, I would really like something to blow them away on my interview which is next friday(29th)eek.........

Merging of facilities, maternity department closures.

Lack of funding for maternity services, the government recommends one to one care during labour, but does not provide the funding ness to provide more midwives to carry out this care.

5,000 midwives needed in this country. The largest age group of midwives is 44- 50. Many are due to retire in the next ten years (over a third)

Job freeze still exists. Many newly-qualifieds are unable to get jobs, they may be able to get hours.

I know this thread is old, but anyone else wondering about this could have a look at the 'Save Independent Midwifery Campaign'.... The independent midwives cannot get Professional Indemnity Insurance for their practice. So they have to work without it.

Are these still the main issues facing midwifery? I need to know the answer to this question for my interview tomorrow

The shortage of midwifes are still a problem today, also there are now issues with how safe birth centres are and women wanting home births.

yes it is Muso all these things are the main issues facing midwifery stay calm in your interview look knowledgeable , be prepared they always have a question that you are not prepared for I know from my experience!!!!Good luck for tomorrow you will be fine let us know how you got on!!
