Mine was really informal, I had two interviewing me. A lecturer and a community midwife. They were fab. Really settled my nerves and were encourageing in everything I said. You will be absolutly fine. At the end of the day if you have got an interview from your application you cant go wrong at the interview. Its a numbers game really as limited places x Extra special good luck though as i'm in same boat and know what your feeling! x

There is a lot of an information on this thread but you can never be too prepared so here's my input!
I was asked: By the lecturer; Who is Katie, what does she do, what is she about? Why midwifery? Why not nursing? What are the current issues facing midwifery? What do I do in my spare time? What was the last book I read? By a community midwife; What does a community midiwfe do? Worst case scenario re: childbirth? How would I deal with stillbirth/neonatal death? How do I de-stress? What role does a midwife play in health promotion? Also, I know people who have been asked the following; Tell me a bit about yourself? Why that particular university? How would they manage the work/family/life balance? What are your views on abortion? You are with a woman in labour and their birthing partner is being extremely disruptive and unhelpful - what would you, as the womans advocate, do? Hope that helps!! xx

Hi everyone,
I've just found out I've got an interview at Bangor Uni in 4 weeks (having already thought I was unsuccessful), so I'm in a state of shock at the moment... I've found the feedback from everyone really helpful, especially the questions you've been asked at interview... any other advice/info on questioning or interview procedure will be much appreciated, specifically any links to sites regarding issues with Midwifery or useful journals. Hi
At Napier uni i was asked What the role of the Midwife was? What the difference between a Midwife and Nurse was? and some some informal chat about my qualifications and previous work experience. Most of the questions i had prepared for did not get asked and felt the whole interview very informal. There was no group discussion but an essay on ' should women have choice in childbirth' x

Some questions I was asked at interview were:
Why did I want to be a midwife? What do midwives do? What had I done to research the role? What would I personally bring to midwifery? What journals etc did I read and how do I keep up to date with current issues surrounding midwifery? What did I think would be the hardest aspect of the job? How would I deal with shift work? How would I approach people from different ethnic and social backgrounds? What would I do to unwind after a stressful shift? How would I feel not seeing my kids if I was on a late shift one day and an early the next? Why choose the particular university I was applying to? What I had done to prepare myself and my family for me studying? What had I enjoyed and disliked about the access course I am on?

at my interview I was asked
Why Midwifery? how I would cope with the pressure of the course? How I would I cope with stillbirth? there were a few more, but these were the main questions x x

What qualities does a midwife need to have?
Why Midwifery and not nursing? What back up do I have in place if I am let down by childcare? What have I read midwifery related? What issues do midwives face? What would I do if they didn't offer me a place?... I blurted out 'cry' before managing to reel myself in and answering properly!
