What have I read recently about midwifery?
Had a 40 question multiple choice test and a small essay on What impact will the course have on my life?

This was for the 18month course for rgns but beliveve it was the same as the 4 year interview.

i tried to go out with comm midwife to gain experience but they never got back to me...

If I'm asked that (if I actually get an interview!!!) I'd say I had read up on the latest midwifery news and had been reading books etc but apart from that I'd be stuck I think - sorry not much help

Hi Nuru,

Only you can say what skills you would bring to the course, it is things like past experience, skills from previous jobs, college, family etc that can transfer to midwifery.

Sorry I can be more help, but it is different for everyone depending on their previous expereinces.

Hi everyone,

I had my interview at college yesteday for an access course to midwifery, only to be told i already had to many highers to get in!

the questions i got asked were;

why midwifery and not nursing?

do you think that your own experience of pregnancy and labour would benefit you or be a hinderence?

tell me what does a midwife do?

other than seeing women once pregnant/labour/giving birth/ and post natally when would a midwife see a client?

How would university life fit in to your life?

Tell me some of the subjects you would study?

How would you feel once qualified with the vast responsibility of the job?

Was pretty tough going - only to be told i would be wasting my time!
