Question Edge Hill Shortlist

Just thought I would ask....

I have heard that with Edge Hill, those who still havn't heard anything...that before offering any places, you are told whether or not you are on the shortlist. Once on this, it is then decided who will get the place, and who will get on the reserve list (obviously given a place if somebody drops out, choses another uni etc) I just wondered if anyone knew anything about it?

Its just making me more nervous and feel very sick hahaha

not to sure how it works em tbh, but when i rang the uni last week she said that if i hadn't heard yet then that it the no news is good news thing, but i feel its a bit of a mixed message, maybe i have made it to the shortlist who knows but it still doesn't mean i will get good news when they finally make their minds up. x x

They told us about this 'reserve list' at the interview but didn't go into much detail about any decisions about offers (either yes, no or reserve list) are made.

In the time that I have had to think about this since my interview (and it has been pretty much 24-7 since the 18th Feb) I have imagined that they must score your essay, results from the tests on the day and your answers at interview. From this there must be a minimum score and those that don't reach it get a no almost straight away. Then I guess the 22 (I think they said that they had 22 places this year) with the higest scores are made offers (conditional and unconditional) and then the uni must have to wait to see how many accept their offer and how many reach any necessary conditions of the offer. I suppose then any places that are then declined or conditions not met can then be offered to those on the 'reserve list' and so on.

Now, I don't know if this is the case or not but with all the thinking that I have been doing (and experience of recruitment that I have) then it does sound like a possible system but it does also sound like a very long winded system which may result in some offers (and even nos) being made very late in deed which is not good for all of us waiting and slowly going mad.

Don't know if this is helpful or not or whether will just raise more questions than answers of make everyone as crazy as me!!!

They will more than likely make 2/3 offers per place available due to people choosing other unis etc

I seem to remember that at the interview day that Stella said that they did not make more offers than places.

Thanks very much for the response!

Haha, was quite useful, think everyones slowly going mad haha! I did hear on the day she will slightly give more places to accomodate those places which are given up for other uni's, I just hope we all find out soon or I think I actually will go mad haha, its a killer waiting!

Hi guys,
well had my interview at edge hill this morning and don't think it went to well tbh.
Anyway stella did say, people will get a straight yes or no through ucas but then, some people will be contacted to be told they are on the shortlist afterwards, when they have been told they are unsuccessful, and could still be making offers right up to the start date and in some cases the first few weeks , so hang on in there girls !!!! i know my friends were told the next day when they were unsuccessfull so maybe no news is good news ??
Kepping my fingers crossed for you all good luck xx
