cathryn what collage are you going to? what Access courses do they have on offer, good luck, get them filled in and sent back, this will put you on the road to Midwifery x x

Hi M80, the app forms I have are for Bolton College. Now they do quite a few courses, but for what ever reason their webste is down tonight and I cant remember them all off top of my head. I know there is a Health Professions one, Health and Social and I am sure there is a sciency one too. I have been in touch with the Uni's I will apply to and they each have different requirements so its what to do for the best really. Also wondered about doing the access to Midwifery course at home . . .its through Distance Learning . . .what do you think ? Edge Hill is one I will apply to, as well as Manchester, Salford, Poss Preston too . .

I am doing an access course at present and most people I know who are waiting to finish the course get given a conditional offer if successful on the course, meaning that as long as you get the points neccessary and you let the uni know as soon as you get them then you in!! (also depending on occupational health and CRB)

Most unis require human biology/physiology and if possible another science... Choose the access that is most relevant... Mine contained...

Access Induction
English Language
English Literature
Cell Biology
Human Physiology
Professional Nursing
Academic Writing
Research Project
Culture and Society
Advanced Seminar

Mine was Access to Nursing and Midwifery... others do Access to Health... Some Access: Science Pathway... Just make sure it has Human biology plus another science.

Feel awful not been on here for a while. Lil one bin bit poorly. . . . Thanks so much for the feedback . . .the forms are all filled in and waiting to go . . .just need to put the name of the access course i would like to apply for on it. Arghhhhh fingers crossed!

Well the best of luck Cathryn!!!

I did an access to health course, i didnt even realsie there was an access to nursing and midwifery that sounds great!!! i think as long as you show you can study, the unis realise that and see all the units you have worked towards!! it shows your commitment as they are not easy courses!! Gets you completely into essay writing and presentations your first at uni will be a breeze after doing the access course!!!
