Default Dundee College

Hi there am going to apply to do the access course, but already the application is harder than any course. They want me to write in no more than 600 hundred words on why i want to do the access course is this normal, did you all have this much to do just to follow your dream???

Different Colleges have different requirements. My college just asked you to come to an open evening and then we had a small test and got offered a place. I wouldn't worry too much as they are probably just trying to gauge your level of education and checking whether you know what midwifery is about.

Access courses are sometimes really oversubscribed and Colleges are trying to weed out the time wasters and the people who are not sure of what they want to do. My access course started with 28 people on it and just 11 of us finished. I must say however that 4 out of 11 are going to do midwifery this year, one environmental studies and another two adult nursing and the rest other things but basically the ones who applied for midwifery got a place at UNI.

This is the first of many steps some of us have had to take and it does get harder but you have to do it if you want to get to do Midwifery.

Good luck and I hope you get into college.

That does sound really difficult yes, I suppose you could write more about why you want to become a midwife, thus the reason for wanting to go on the access course, write about your passion (which I presume is midwifery) then simply thus the reason I need to complete the access course to fulfill my dream, it is a stepping stone etc...
