 Can anyone help have my interview on friday! Hi everyone! Ive just joined this site and so far im impressed!  ....It looks really interesting and helpful, wish i had found it earlier. Im a newly qualified staff nurse and graduated last sept 07. I was a nanny prior to this and always wanted to one day become a midwife, supporting women and there families through such an amazing life changing event. My interview has finally come round and even though i feel prepared - have been planning this day for 6 years!!- I am nervous! my main worry is the maths and biology test in the interview just wondered if anyone knew what the questions may involve???!! my interview is at UCLAN Preston this friday...Also what kind of written piece i will have to write, i was thinking it might be on my interpretation of the 'role of a midwife'?? no idea! if any one has any helpful tips i would appreciate it...Thanks Michelle      |

| Re: Can anyone help have my interview on friday! Hi Shell! Good luck for your interview! I dont know what your interview will be like for you, I can only tell you what happened at mine. Firstly if you go on to Swansea university website they have examples of maths tests on there, don't know anything about the Biology as we were not tested on that. I was given a list of topics to choose one to write about, What skills do you have that apply to midwifery, A womens right to choose C-section, The fathers role and breastmilk verses bottle, well along the lines of those, and in another interview it was describe the role of the midwife. The interview was really relaxed. I hope this helps, i'm sure someone on here is at the uni you are having an interview at or applied and had interview. I'm sure you'll do fine Shell! | Re: Can anyone help have my interview on friday! Hi Shell! Wow, that interview sounds really involved...not heard of a biology test anywhere else. I had to sit a maths test at Worcester and Wolves but both were fairly basic eg putting large numbers into words, 24 hour clock, putting decimels into size order etc Sounds like you have loads of caring experience, sure that will work well in your favour! On one of my interviews we had a maths test followed by an written piece. The subject for that was smoking. It didn't have to be related to be midwifery and was timed. I'm sure if you have a look round the site you will find some interview information from the Uni you have applied to. Keeping fingers crossed for you. Coffeebean

| Re: Can anyone help have my interview on friday! I'm sure you'll be fine. Have a little more faith in your self. You have nothing to lose when you go for interview but lots to gain. Remember to be calm and count to ten before you answer each question and make sure you answer what is being asked. Very best of luck and will keep appendages crossed for you.
