Default What if i'm not good enough:(?

Hi ladies, i need a boost.

As i've said i have an interveiw at Paisley on thursday and i feel like i'm drowning, i'm reading the BJM's whenever they arrive in the library, i would subscribe but i just can't afford it. I'm reading Myles textbook for midwifery and even dipping into pregnancy magazines to understand what fears and worries pregnant women go through, but what if it's not enough?
I'm currently doing a biomedical sciences degree but i hate it, it's so impersonnel, i don't want to spend 40+ years working in a lab with petri dishes . What if they say "well rachael you are already at university lets give your place to someone who isn't".........I'm trying to talk to my friends about it but they don't understand how much i want this, for the first time in my life i know what i want...i'm sorry if this sounds like silly moaning to everyone, i just thought you guys would know what i'm going through.

Awww, Rachael, big hugs...

You are quite normal to think this and I know it is painful having to wait and see what happens. You are reading lot and that's fab, and you ARE good enough! I still have worries that I am not, and maybe that's normal too.

All you can do is have faith in yourself and show them that passion and knowledge at interview.

Chin up Missus! you will get there, I have faith in you

Rachael, we all doubt ourselves all the time, I think for me enthusiasm counts for so much, I think that and passion is what needs to come across, and you are in your post so carry on with what you are doing

I really believe the power of positive thinking got me through it, I saw myself getting an interview, then saw myself succeeding and I did it!!!

If I can anyone can, don't think what if they don't want me - think how it will feel when they say - welcome to the course

Good luck hun

Rachael,

I did a very similar degree to you and had the same idea that I didn't want to work in lab, I wanted a more hands on, people oriented career. They won't turn you down because you are already at uni, if anything it is an advantage because it shows you can study at degree level.

Also, many women (and some men) decide midwifery is for them after following alternative career paths, it's really not something you have to have wanted to do since you were little.

I'm sure you will be good enough, it sounds like you are reading well around the subject, plus I'm sure you've looked at the threads with advice about interview questions. You want this and I'm sure that will show through at interview.

Best of luck to you!!

I would give you a place based on what you have said, because your passion and desire shines through - that is what they want to see, and as others have said, your degree shows you can cope with the standards required of you. Be confident, they have to give that place to someone, why not you?

I agree with what everyone has said so far, Rachel. If this is truly what you want, it would have shone through! I think your at an advantage having already experienced university. Good luck and sending you hugs xx

Ditto what the other girls have said, you sound like you have prepared well for the interview and above all have a real passion for what you want to do - believe in yourself - you can do it

Hi Rachael, I had a downer on myself last week and the girls on here really cheered me up, I agree with what everone has said already and you'll be great at your interview! I live in glasgow so PM me if you fancy meeting for a coffee and a chat as it would be great to meet someone from the site and who won't be bored of midwifery talk!!!!!!
