Default Maternity Support Worker

Hey everyone
Would like some advice.... although i'm still waiting to hear my decision from uni, a msw position has come up at my local hospital and i would like to apply for it. I honestly don't think i've been successful this year and think that the msa post would be a fantastic opportunity for me. Is this the way forward do you think?

I don't know, but it wouldn't hurt to apply. If you get an offered the job, you would have to have CRB checks etc, done, so it would take a while. If you then get offered a place at Uni, you can pull out of the job if you wish - or you might like to continue it for a while.
Whatever you decide, good luck.

i'd say this definately the way to go. universities love experience and you'd be able to get a reference from them if you should need to re apply.

go for it girl x

Hi. I agree with Lilli. Being an MCA myself you have got a much better chance of getting in if you have had experience. You can always see how it pans out at uni. If you get in fine, if you dont go for the MSW post. Honestly, the unis do love it if you have had prev experience. Good luck and let us know how you got on xxx

Hi, I agree with what the others have said. I'm a Maternity Care Assistant and have found it a good way of making sure that becoming a Midwife is what I really want to do. You do have a better chance of getting on a course when you have experience.

Good luck with whichever direction you take.

Applying for the post would do no harm. If you get into Uni then you could decline the job but if you don't then it would be a great job to do while you re-apply. It would certainly strengthen your application.

Good luck!

Hiya - agree totally with what the others have said, I work on maternity but as a ward clerk - based on delivery suite and postnatal and I'm hoping to get some more "hands on" experience before I apply to uni. Good luck
