I'm sure I've heard something about some Uni's are full before they've even accepted applications for the upcoming year due to people taking a year out and returning etc is this true???

I doubt it, there would be no point in allowing people to apply and interviewing them if this were the case, but never say never - stranger things have happened!
Maybe someone else on here can give you a more direct answer as I'm not too sure...

Hmmm.. not heard that. They do often carry over places from deferrals and those offered a place for the following year after application.

How many this is varies, but is usually only a few. (3-4 at the most)

Maybe someone else knows more about this?

You'll hear lots of urban myths and half truths through the appliction process. Like the others said what would be the point? I would say it was the exception rather than the rule. Some Unis will not even allow deferal, Cardiff won't the only way a place would be taken in Cardiff the next year was if they over subscribed bursaries for the previous, which is very very rare (I hope!!) or like you said if someone was to return after time out.xx

i know swansea dont accept defered entry too

York had 15 places for 2008... However 4 were already taken from deferrals... So we were told at interview that there was only 11 places available for September 2008!!!!!

I know of 2 who got deferred place for 2009... So already if the total was 15... they only have 13... Not sure I agree with the whole deferral thing at all.

Our uni don't accept deferrals on application, however, if a place has been offered they will allow deferral for certain reasons (unexpected pregnancy being one that I know of for certain).
