My placement is in colchester.

You know your first placement already? When we started last sept they hadnt even decided who was going where! All of us were on community for 4 weeks first is this the same for you?

You can get books from the library, but they are a job to keep hold of when an assignment is due in as everyone wants them at the same time. I would recommend a good A&P book as this is first module. I found/find this subject difficult and as there is an exam for it in Dec I needed a good understandable one quick! The Jane Coad one I found good and also the little DK one called Human Body is really good with loads of pictures-nearly everyone has this in our cohort!!

As far as other books I think you definately need one of the all round ones (Myles or Mayes) but decide as you go through the course for the rest. Some girls buy loads and some get most from library.

Thanks for your help Ceci! I had a letter to say most people will be getting their first placement choice and when I had my interview Wendy told me if I got in I would be able to go to WJC as its abit out the way for most which I'm happy about! Yes it will be community I hear the home birth rate is on the up around here some would be great if I could get a first witness in on my first placement!
Luckily I had the tip off about the A&P and have invested in Coad, have been looking through it to get abit of a head start but arrrrrggghhhhh! some of it is hard to get your head around!
Thanks for the tip about waiting to decide (Myles or Mayes) as I was abit unsure what to do about it but I will take your advice and wait and see.
Thanks again xxx

Hi Clare, you can certainly make a start on your application now, in fact I'd recommend you start now as if you are anything like me you'll need the time to make sure your ps is perfect :-) (I rewrote mine 3 times over!)I'm not sure when would be the best time to submit it as I didn't go down the access route but I'm sure someone here will be able to advise you. Lots of luck!!! xx

Hi Clairel

I'm starting the access this September and have been informed that I should submit my application this year for 2009. My access only runs for 1 year so I guess I'll have most of it completed by the time we get to interview stage in any event (god - I hope I even get an interview).

How long is your Access course?

There is an ARU social group, originally for the 2008 people but nobody wanted to join me lol so please feel free to jump in and save a fledgling group lol

good luck to all of you, the time will fly by and before you know access is finished and (fingers crossed) uni is looming

Hi J

Im doing the distance learning course, so can do it from home. It takes up to a year, so I guess I had better get my finger out! I have booked a place for the opening day at Chelmsford on the 11th October. Is anyone else going to the open days?

Clare
