Default 18 month midwifery degree help

hi all i am very new to this
i have just recieved a letter to say i have been offered an interview for an 18 month midwifery degree at teesside uni. i am absolutely over the moon at this as i have tried to get in the 2 previous years and because there are so little places have been unsuccessful. am just wondering will the questions differ for the 18 month degree rather than the 3 year one. will they be more complex and has anyone here had an interview for the 18 month degree. thanks all

xx

Hello Lillieflower.

Wanted to say Hi! I'm from the same town as you and will be starting at Teesside in September!

I expect they will ask questions to pull on your nursing experience. Maybe clinical based... More why not nursing? How is midwifery different to nursing?

Yes, travelling together when possible would be good! I've asked for South Tees for my placement, which covers James Cook and Northallerton. I'm hoping for northallerton!

Hi Lillieflower
I'm very new too! I am starting the 18 month programme in September (not at your Uni). My interview was quite informal (maybe that was the skill of the interviewers) and felt like a discussion rather than being fired questions. I was asked 'why midwifery?', 'What can I bring to midwifery?' 'Why did I study nursing first?' 'What had I enjoyed about my nurse training?' (by the way, I finished my nursing course in May this year, and am not intending to practice as a nurse)'Where do I see myself in 5 years time?' etc. I also had the opportunity to ask questions throughout. I had read up on NICE guidelines, CEMACH reports, and articles from recent issues of BJM and PM - but wasn't directly asked anything about them, so had to wangle a (probably embarassingly obvious) way of letting the interviewers know I had read around the subject and prepared. Anyway, after thinking I made a complete buffoon of myself, I was offered a place, so couldn't have been too bad.
I hope this helps, and best of luck for your interview.
Love TT xxx
