Hi all
Well, I got a letter yest inviting me for an information/interview evening on Monday!!!! As another one of my colleagues had already applied she said it was lots of info, an informal interview and *gulp* numeracy and literacy tests!!

The tests are the things I am most worried about as I had a real mental block about maths when I was at school hence getting a lousy GCSE result (F)!!!!

But I'm going to do some revision on the GCSE bitesize website over the weekend so hopefully will be a little more prepared!

Starting access course Sept 08 (hopefully!!)

Good luck! The tests will be simple diagnostic tests to decide whether or not you could cope with Access level work or whether you may need to do a pre-access or study skills refresher course xx

We had only a literacy test at our interview day .... it was multiple choice and covered spelling and grammer.

We had an hour to do it , and most of us finished early !!

Just dont fill your head up too much or you will overload it .

I'm sorry i cant help you with the numeracy test .

Seriously do not worry about the tests, remember access is designed for people with no qualifications, they don't expect you to be at A grade GCSE level before you start! They just want to know what your ability level is so they can help you best. You will be fine! You are obviously an intelligent, capable person, that much stands out from your posts and your blogs, they will want to snap you up and be falling over themselves to get you signed up for the course.

I too get mental blocks in maths i also got an f. when u go for the interview stay relaxed they r normaly multiple choice, Good luck

good luck and you will be fine im also bad at maths and the test to me was quite easy!! i actually passed the maths with the results showing i could do the access on level 3 but that would of been too intense for me but it goes to show it couldnt of been that hard!!!! to be honest its just basic everyday maths so dont worry , good luck xxxx

Good luck. You will be fine. I am pants at maths, but I think now I'm older (unfortunately) & a bit wiser (hopefully!) I will be better this time. I am sure you will be the same. Let us know how you get on x
