Default Flaws in NHS maternity care? Or just individual mistakes?

Hullo Everyone!!

I'm sorry i haven't been around much lately! Things suddenly got hectic!

Anyways, i have a dilemma for everyone, i have to choose a topic to discuss (within the news) that affects the midwife community and the mothers and babies and i thought this might be appropriate.

The chairman of the Healthcare Commission has stated that poor care and tribal attitudes of staff are putting women at risk and that a combination of serious concerns within trusts are running through all of the NHS maternity services.

These concerns include;
- Insufficient Midwives available
- Women not getting the continuity of care with the Midwives they met before birth
- Guidelines from NICE not being followed
- Too few beds and bathrooms being available
- Care and support for women after birth not being good enough

I would love to hear opinions from both student and registered Midwives on this topic!

Muchos Lovus

Zoy xx
