Default Second Chance Interview

Hi Guys,
After thinking I was unsuccessful without interview this year, my first choice uni rang me last week to see if I was still interested and if I would like an interview. Of course I accepted and its this Thursday, the nerves are really starting to kick in now and I feel sick whenever I think about it.
Ive had an interview before and I really messed up, I was so ill prepared and my interview skills were terrible. This time I am so prepared, Ive read up loads and I am really positive. I was just wondering though, how long should my answers be? Last year I was told I didnt go into enough depth and show my knowledge and that let me down. Also, I know they will ask me to tell them about myself as an icebreaker, should I mention what ive been doing since last year(OU study) and how its been beneficial to me?
I want this so much this time and dont want to mess up.
Help me!!
Gxx

Wow, great news, Nenna!!

Yes, definately go into enough detail to really sell yoursefl, your knowledge and definately your further learning!!

Remember we only get 15 to 30 minutes for them to make their decisions as to whether we'll be student midwives!!

Answer all questions accurately and with enough detail to show how much you know, you'll know when you are going on for two long, I guess two or three lines of words in your head for each question?

Good luck, be passionate, let thme know how much you weant this and how hard you have worked to get there!

let us know how it goes, we will all be right there with you!

Hi Nenna I am in the same boat as you feeling really sick about thursday. I would think its a good idea as it shows how keen you are to study!! I dont suppose you have any good ideas what to put in the essay for role of the midwife I want something to really stand out. I have done loads of research but my problem is on the day ,it all just seems to go blank and blurry. MY NERVES ARE TERRIBLE.

I wish I had an essay! On paper I can articulate myself briliantly and sound very good and very knowledgeable. However, in real life I am pants!
I have been sat in front of the mirror with a list of possible questions talking the answers out loud to myself . I have also sat with a stopwatch and timed my answers. What a doofus!
I just wish it was the Thursday so I could go and get it over with.

best of luck to both of you, show how passionate you are about midwifery and how you want to be an advocate for empowerment and so on, also that you have the ability to remain objective.

Hope this helps,

Good luck girls! Knock 'em dead! Phrases i had stuck in my head were empowering women, autonomous practioner, time management and being an advocate for women..

My interview still sticks out in my mind i thought i had totally messed it up, i cried for 2 days! Half way through the interview i just quite loudly oh my god!! lol. I just freeze at interviews am not usually one for being quiet! As soon as the interview was over i became Cami again! Even said i'd thought of offering a bribe lol!! But hey must have something right!!!

Also.................i was the last person to be interviewed. Everyone else took between 25 mins and 40 mins.............mine................10 mins!!!

Just think positive and show how passionate you are about midwifery!

Let us know how it goes..................xx
