Personal Statement, when to send?

Hi everyone

With regards to personal statements when do the Uni's stop taking applications for people that wish to start in september 2009? Its just everyone seems to be preparing theres and sending them off already and i know its never to early to start and i have made a start, its just i havnt started my access course yet start in january and really want to wait until i shadow a midwife in Novemeber/December to put both of these on my PS.

So was not thinking of sending it off until at least janaury next year. Will this be to late?

I may be completely wrong on this but I think you have to get your application in before January?
Have you checked with UCAS and your uni?

ah what..... didnt realise it was this soon, I should definitly check this. I just didnt realise it had to be in so soon, yea UCAS will hopefully tell me i will have a look. Have you started your PS xxx

I could be wrong though! No not started mine! Like you I think I will hang on a bit so I can put more on there. I'm not starting my breast feeding counselling course until Jan, but still going to put that on there and at least if they ask about it at interview I might have something to talk about!!
So much to think about isn't there! My head hurts!

There is a lot to think about its making me really nervous already. Thats a good idea though to put things you are doing in the future on your PS at least they know you are doing something to help towards getting experiance plus as you said something to talk about in interview!

A lawyer in my work said she will give me a reference and Im going to see if a tutor at my college will give me a reference as well. How about you? do you have sorted your references? xxx

If I remember correctly, the deadline last year was 15th January, BUT I know that a lot of Unis start interviewing well before then.

I had an interview and an offer at Greenwich even before the deadline, so if you're thinking of applying there I'd advise you to get it in as early as possible.

The great thing about being a pessimist is that you're never disappointed.....

No my references are worrying me a little! I used to work for a solicitors so will ask for a reference there but I can not get a reference from a tutor for a while as I am doing a distance learning GCSE and need a couple of assignments in first. I don't think I will get my application in til about November!

Thanks for all your advice on this. I will definitly get mine in as soon as possible. I have just finished my draft PS and feel that it is wayyyyy to long lol but will maybe try and get a student midwife to look through it to give me feedback.

Oh this is all so nerve racking.. i dnt know why im nervous i just hope they like me.

Apple tree - solicitors would be a good reference to get and maybe a teacher from school? Its a hard one really isnt it....

Their (UCAS) "on-time" deadline is... *runs to get the little ucas book* is the 15th January 2009. As I understand, after that they will take late applications up until the 30th of June.
At college though we have an internal deadline, which I think is earlier, so you might want to check that if you're doing it through a college or uni.

Thank you all for your info really has helped. Im not currenlty at college or uni dont start college until Janaury so maybe if its before the 15th Jan I can ask for a bit of help from them
