Default Reference?

Hey Guys,

Despite not being sure whether I'll be able to go to uni next year even if I managed to get a place (financial and personal issues...), I have decided to apply anyway so that if I can figure out a way to make it work, I still have a chance!

My lovely manager has offered to write my reference for my application, but I'm not sure what needs to be in it. She's asked me to write her a list of things that I want included, but I wouldn't know where to start!

Does anyone have any advice that I can pass on to her?

Hey Becca, I guess what sort of person you are, your character and your performance as an employee should be ok.

Do you have an educational one too, from your college or something?

Your professionalism, your attitude to further study (this can be based around staff training if it's a boss), your attendance, are you reliable etc. I think all that should be ok. You should try and get one who knows you through an academic position though, as that would be more suitable (I would imagine) Good Luck with your application.

i can't really get an academix reference because i haven't studied in 6 years, so they wouldn't really be relevant. i've checked with my uni and they say i meet the entry requirements academically, so i'm not worried about my qualifications not being recent enough... but i'm not sure what use a 6 year old reference would be!

True. Check with you chosen uni re your reference. They may still want the academic one as even though it is old it shows your attitude to study. They also might think its too old and just go with your professional one. So that advice was useless I would just check with the uni, that way your sure.
