my personal statement is driving me mad

there is no point to this thread.... not asking for advice or anything specific about my personal statement. Just wanted to vent about the fact that it is doin' ma nut in....I don't know how many times I have started, stopped, deleted, copied, pasted....you get the picture.....

Everything else on my application is ready to go, reference person ready and waiting......

I feel your pain i'm working on my PS at this moment and sometimes I just hit a mental block eugh it's so frustrating lol but i think the best thing is to leave it for a couple of hours to regain some thoughts you want to right down- it works for me sometimes.
although you must be eager to send your application so if you need some help look at the PS section http://www.studentmidwife.net/personal-statements/ and look at the guidance and examples it can help how to structure your PS.

Heya, I think we've all been through this and know where you're coming from! I found the hardest part was writing my first sentence, wanting it to be eye catching and different. Best thing to do if you can't think what to do is simply leave it, sleep on it and then try again tomorrow, you still have loads of time to do it.

Deep breath and relax! There's no point writing it now if you don't think you'll do your best. As Keisha said have a look at the personal statement gallery perhaps you can get some inspiration from others!

God i remember this - think its the single hardest thing i have ever had to write - it was awful

the only help i can give you is.................. that when its right you will know - i did mine for about the 10th time and then refused to make any more changes to it because i knew it was just how i wanted it to be!

Another good tip is to read it out loud to yourself / family member . It will be easier to see if it flows !!!

I had real difficulty with my ps last year as i am not used to analysing myself and my good points ???
But i must have done ok as i got an interview at the ONE uni i applied to ???

I Will be starting to work on this years one when the kids are back in school and we have some sort of normality back !!

Plus the fact that i havnt started my voluntary work ( on the mat unit !! Do work for sure start as well but wanted to include MAT UNIT !! ) yet doesnt help !!
I am eagerly awaitning my crb clearance !!

Always waiting for something !!!

Hi all!
I know what you mean Mrs RW, awaiting my CRB check too....grrr....hurry up!!
When I get stuck with my PS I walk about in the garden where it is quiet and no distractions, or when I'm in the shower I can compose loads in my head! Unfortunately now I have about three times too much, more to add as well, it just keeps coming! Now I am quite enjoying it though!

Haha tell me about it!! I've been doing mine since about February!!!!!! And my original looks nothing at all like the one I am HOPING to be sending off in the next few weeks, when my tutor decides to write my reference, but that's a different story!! lol x x x x x
