Default Ucas Application Form

Hi, Does anybody know on the UCAS Form, (the part where you put your academic qualifications), do I need to put things like Secretarial college, where I went 20 yrs ago, and doesnt exist anymore? Also qualifications such as RSA Typing etc, which really isnt relevant to midwifery. Does anybody have any ideas? I have heaps of access qualifications which are obviously relevant, but do they need to know about the obscure qualifications that are really such a long time ago and totally irrelevant.

It's entirely up to you, Mezzy. You are not obliged to put on any qualifications that you do not want to.

However, although your RSA may be old and seemingly not relevant, it demonstrates your ability to study and learn, and also the fact that you are able to use a computer effectively (something which is extremely important for University level study).

Personally, I've got RSA Diplomas in Typing, Administration and Shorthand, and I put these down as I believe they not only show my ability to learn but also show that while I was working in an office environment for ten years, I was also undertaking studies at the same time.

You will not be penalised by UCAS for putting down lots of qualifications; they will just ignore any that they deem irrelevant.

Good luck with the application!

As long as you have the certificates to prove it, put everything down! But be aware that you have to provide a certificate (or other proof) for every qual you out down when you have an interview.

Hi Karrier Bag, hopefully ok in the end. Have been to Portugal for the past 2 weeks and every spare mo I had, I worked on it. (Makes all the difference in the sun), so I'm quite confident now that it flows a bit better and many thanks to you for your help. I noticed you are applying to Cardiff too - good luck!
