Default District Health Board Interview EEEEEEEK:(

Hi Ladies & Gents,

I have an interview this Thursday at 2.30pm as core midwife (hospital) at a busy teritary high risk unit.

I am in my final year, only 4 months to go before sitting big university exam enabling me to practice and register as a midwife. I do not have a portfolio as we are yet to put this together (starts next semester), so I am unsure what I need to take etc.

Anybody have an idea or been through the interview process. What type of questions do they ask. I am a tad worried as I am still a student and still learning. Have little self confidence so don't want to mess this up.

TIA
Sara

First of all, congratulations on getting an interview and well done for almost finishing your course. I believe that you will need to have your emergency skills up to date and be able to demonstrate knowledge in this area. You will probably be asked about clinical governance/negligence scheme. Apart from the usual questions asked at any interviews this is all I know about.

Good luck and I'm sure others will be able to help you more.

Awww, well done you MSS!! You are so nearly there, I rmemmber when you joined those few months ago! Now you're almost finished and all credit to you for getting there!! So huge congrats to you and a big squishy hug too! you thoroughly deserve to be where you are now and good luck for the interview.

I can't really help with that as it is way above my head atm, so hopefully someone else knowledgable will add to KS' advice soon!!

Hello lady, long time no hear!! So pleased that you have an interview, well done, really big well done to you!!
I got asked stuff in my intervew really pertinent to my hospital really, I wasn't asked anything on obstetric emergencies, but around communication, and effective methods, also what I could brng to the hospital as a newly qualified mw, sharing informaton with others, health, safety and security issues, also about supervision, and how the Trusts save money (of course) and my contrbution to it, as well as expectations of others. I got asked about what I would do in the future, like where I saw myself, about working with others, and expectations now. They were really open questions and I just expanded and went off on a bt of a tangent, then came back round again haha. Good luck to you, I'm over the moon for you, PM me and let me know all about it and where it is, I'm still interested n coming over, and may have a holiday there next year to suss it all out. Big love to ya, I start on delivery suite in the morning, as a proper grown up midwife eeek hehe, Tracy xxx

Ladies you are so full of support, I think it is wonderful just how close we are yet so far away.

Tracy baby, wow you are soooo grown up and earning pennies, now that's a dream... You make me proud girl. Would still love to have you over here and anyone else for that matter. I so excited for you, Ihave the fuzzies

I will of course keep you all informed and I hope you are all going well.

Tracy, you are probably asleep as I write this and preparing for your first day on the job getting paid, as we all know we did the job just unpaid. Relax, you know your stuff and I am thinking of you all the way over here in your 2nd home.

Big big big hugs
Sara
